Data mesh. This oft-talked-about architecture has no shortage of blog posts, conference talks, podcasts, and discussions. One thing that you may have found lacking is a concrete guide on precisely how to get started building your own data mesh implementation. We have you covered. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to build a data mesh using event streams, highlighting our design decisions, and the key benefits and challenges you’ll need to consider along the way. In fact, we’ll go one better: we’ve built a data mesh prototype for you to check out on your own to see what this would look like in action, or fork to bootstrap a data mesh for your own organization.

Data mesh is technology agnostic so there are a few different ways you can go about building one. The canonical approach is to build the mesh using event streaming technology that provides a secure, governed, real-time mechanism for moving data between different points in the mesh.

Apache Kafka became the de facto standard for processing data in motion across enterprises and industries. Cybersecurity is a key success factor across all use cases. Kafka is not just used as a backbone and source of truth for data. It also monitors, correlates, and proactively acts on events from real-time and batch data sources to detect anomalies and respond to incidents. This blog series explores use cases and architectures for Kafka in the cybersecurity space, including situational awareness, threat intelligence, forensics, air-gapped and zero trust environments, and SIEM/SOAR modernization. This post is part six: SIEM/SOAR Modernization.

Blog Series: Apache Kafka for Cybersecurity

This blog series explores why security features such as RBAC, encryption, and audit logs are only the foundation of a secure event streaming infrastructure. Learn about use cases,  architectures, and reference deployments for Kafka in the cybersecurity space:

  • Mulesoft 4: Continuous Delivery/Deployment With Maven by Ashok S — This article is a great example of what we want every tutorial to look like on DZone. The main aim of this article is to provide a standard mechanism to release project artifacts and deploy to Anypoint Platform, from the local machine or configure in continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Integration With Social Media Platforms Series (Part 1) by Sravan Lingam — This article helps you to build a RESTful API through MuleSoft that integrates with LinkedIn and shares a post on behalf of one’s personal account. I like this article because, in the age of social media, it’s so important for businesses to be connected and integrated!

Learn more about the benefits of Digital Twin tech in IIoT and it’s relation to Apache Kafka!

This blog post discusses the benefits of a Digital Twin in Industrial IoT (IIoT) and its relation to Apache Kafka. Kafka is often used as a central event streaming platform to build a scalable and reliable digital twin for real-time streaming sensor data.

In November 2019, I attended the SPS Conference in Nuremberg. This is one of the most important events about Industrial IoT (IIoT). Vendors and attendees from all over the world fly in to make business and discuss new products. Hotel prices in this region go up from usually 80-100€ to over 300€ per night. Germany is still known for its excellent engineering and manufacturing industry. German companies drive a lot of innovation and standardization around the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0.
