It’s common for websites to have a subscription button, where you can pass along your email address, and you’ll receive emails every week, month, or day. Sometimes, these are automated emails, and sometimes they are custom posts written by an editor.

It’s also common to pay for this service, sometimes extortionately. In this article, I’ll show you it’s pretty easy to create your own, although you will obviously still have to pay for hosting. Let’s look at how to create an email subscription service with MongoDB and Node.JS.

Understanding MongoDB and NoSQL Database

NoSQL data sets arose in the latter part of the 2000s as the expense of storage drastically diminished. The days of expecting to create a complicated, hard to-oversee data model to avoid data replication were long gone and the primary expense of programming and development was now focused on the developers themselves, and hence NoSQL databases were brought into the picture to enhance their productivity.

As storage costs quickly diminished, the measure of data that applications expected to store increased, and the query expanded as well. This data was received in all shapes and sizes — organized, semi-organized, and polymorphic — and characterizing the schema ahead of time turned out to be almost incomprehensible. NoSQL databases permitted the developers to store colossal measures of unstructured data, providing them with a ton of flexibility.

Implementing MongoDB to Elastic Search 7.X Data Pipeline

In this article, we will see how to implement a data pipeline from an application to Mongo DB database and from there into an Elastic Search keeping the same document ID using Kafka connect in a Microservice Architecture. In recent days and years, all the microservices architectures are asynchronous in nature and are very loosely coupled. At the same time, the prime approach to have minimum code (minimum maintenance and cost), no batch systems (real-time data), and promising performance without data loss fear. Keeping all the features in mind Kafka and Kafka connect is the best solution so far to integrate different sources and sinks in one architecture to have very robust and reliable results.

We will Depp drive and implement such a solution using Debezium Kafka connect to achieve a very robust pipeline of data from one application into Mongo and then into Elastic cluster.

And so we arrive to the third and -for now- last entry in our adventure about connecting a sensor at home and sending the measurements to the Onesait Platform.

In the first entry, we saw how to choose the working environment and set up both the ontology and the API service to ingest the data. In the second part, I told you how to hook the cables between the boards, how to configure the Arduino IDE to work, how to write the code that collects and sends the measurements to the Platform, and how to see that it was indeed received correctly.
